Let’s keep the Fraser River safe for everyone.

Our Mission

The location of a proposed barge terminal for the $10 billion Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant will be crucial.

We do not oppose the plant upgrade.

But wherever the barge terminal is located for construction deliveries, dust, light, and noise pollution must not create health hazards - nor must the plant create dangerous conditions for marine traffic on the Fraser River’s north arm.

Community Meeting - February 1 @7pm

A barge terminal planned for Iona Island must be positioned to minimize health concerns from air pollution, noise pollution and light pollution from affecting people on, and near, the north shore of the Fraser River’s north arm.

Hear more about this proposed barge terminal and get the facts on how the placement of it can impact the health of you and your family for years to come. Help protect our communities from these health risks.

Our community is advocating for Metro Vancouver to chose oher available options to transport construction materials to the Iona Wastewater Treatment Facility. Residents of Kerrisdale, Dunbar, West Southlands and Southlands will all be impacted by the noise and resulting air quality issues over the 10+ years of planned contruction. Join us to hear updates and advocacy work.

Metro Vancouver is Proposing a Barge Terminal in the Fraser River at Deering Island Park

Metro Vancouver is constructing a new waste water treatment plant which will serve the entire Metro Vancouver population.  Metro is propsing to barge construction materials to the site via a new Barge Terminal just 214 yards from Deering Island Park and the river trail.  The Barge Terminal which will operate for 13 hours a day, 5+ days a week, for 10+ years and have serious health and environmental consequences from the noise, light and air pollution.

Metro has other options for the transport of construction materials.

Please join us in advocating for these alternate options.
